Late Rally Not Enough To Lift Dragons

| By:
MOORHEAD, Minn. - The Minnesota State University Moorhead Dragons entered the first road trip of the season as they took on the St. Cloud State Huskies Sunday. The Dragons rally was too late to overcome a 2-0 deficit as the Dragons dropped the game by a final of 2-1.

The Huskies wasted little time jumping ahead as Brooke Eggen got her first goal of the season at the 9:52 mark of the opening half to push the Huskies ahead 1-0. Freshman goalkeeper Victoria Hoffman settled in, stopping the rest of the shots from the Huskies in the first half. Hoffman stopped an early shot to start the second half just 2:37 into the second half to keep the Dragons in the game.

No more shots were made by either team until the 30:08 mark of the second half when Kayla Kramer got her first goal of the season for the Huskies to put the home squad up 2-0. The Dragons stepped up and did not allow another shot and turned up the pressure on the Huskies.

With time running out, the Dragons attacked and broke through as Abby Kettler followed up her corner kick and got the Dragons on the board at the 40:56 mark of the second half to cut the deficit in half, 2-1. The Dragons would fall by that final as the rally would not come full circle.

The Huskies improve to 2-2 on the season with the win. The Dragons fall to 0-4 on the season and begin their conference schedule on the road as they take on the Bemidji State Beavers (3-0) on Saturday at 1 p.m.
