MOORHEAD, Minn. - Senior
Laura Tvrdik and sophomore
Heidi Lensing combined for 26 kills on Friday night as they led the Minnesota State University Moorhead Dragons to a 3-1 (6-4, 2-0 NSIC) victory over the Bemidji State Beavers (7-3, 1-1 NSIC).
Tvrdik tallied 14 kills on the evening where the team formally honored her for becoming the ninth player in the history of the program to eclipse the 1,000 kill mark. She hit her 1,000 kill in the final match of the Dragon Classic on Saturday. Tvrdik also had eight block assists in the match to lead the team.
Lensing had 12 kills, also picking up nine digs and a service ace.
The Beavers took set one but the Dragons rallied in the next three to take the match. The scores of the sets were (MSUM-BSU) 21-25, 25-20, 25-23, 25-18.
Leigh Splittstoesser and
Anna Olson split the assists on the evening with 26 and 22, respectively.
Ashley Pyfferoen and
Katy Ness led the Dragons defense on the attack as each of them had 20 digs.
The Dragons will continue league play on Saturday as they will host Minnesota-Duluth at 4 p.m. in Alex Nemzek Fieldhouse.
