Dragons' Roadtrip To Contention Starts In Aberdeen

| By:
MOORHEAD, Minn. – The Minnesota State University Moorhead Dragons soccer team has battled a slow start, unlucky bounces and numerous injuries. The Dragons are winless thus far and sit at 0-4 in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference. The Dragons begin a five game road trip this weekend, looking to break through their conference opponents, beginning with the Northern State Wolves (S.D.).

Adding to the troubles is the tricky bounces that frequently do not go the Dragons way. Despite the injuries and unlucky plays in the field, the Dragons are one good road trip from fighting their way right back into contention.

This weekend will put the Dragons up against the Wolves. The Wolves have not shown a prolific offense and have failed to put opponents away. In four NSIC contests, the Wolves have posted a record of 1-0-3. They have outscored opponents by a narrow 5-4 margin.

The second match-up will see the Dragons head west to Bismarck, N.D., to take on the Mary Marauders who have had similar struggles to the Wolves. The Marauders are 1-1-2 in NSIC action and have equaled their opponent's offense with five goals each. Four of those goals have come from Jessica Curl and Michelle Jones.

The Dragons look to show off the depth left on their bench and compete despite being shorthanded. The team has not lost depth at the goalkeeper position, which has been keeping the team in the game with senior Alison Wanner racking up 30 saves in five games and freshman Victoria Hoffman tallying 19 total saves in three games.

The Dragons game with the Wolves is scheduled for 11 a.m. Sunday's contest with the Maruaders beginning at 1 p.m.
