Jetvig Posts Career High, Not Enough for Dragons as Huskies Win, 79-70

MOORHEAD, Minn. - Junior Angie Jetvig posted a career high 27 points and 15 rebounds on Saturday evening against the St. Cloud State Huskies, but it wasn't enough as the Minnesota State University Moorhead Dragons suffered the loss, 79-70.

Jetvig went 9-for-17 from the field and 8-of-8 from the free-throw line en route to her fifth double-double of the season.

The Dragons led only  three times in the first half, but couldn't overcome the Huskies' Sam Price who went 3-for-5 from long range int he first half, scoring nine of her team-leading 17 points early in the game.

Along with Price, a number of Huskies found an offensive rhythm as five players posted double-digits in scoring, combining to shoot 45 percent for the game.

The Dragons cut the their deficit down to three twice in the last five minutes of play, but struggled to score in the final minutes, allowing the Huskies to claim the win, 79-70.

The Dragons Marisa Yernatich put up 12 points in the game, going 3-for-9 from behind the arc and added two assists and two rebounds.  Betsy Dickson added five points, five assists and picked up 11 of the team's 41 rebounds in the game.

MSU Moorhead's 41 rebounds allowed the Dragons to score 12 second chance points compared to the Huskies 21 rebounds and six second chance points.

The loss drops the Dragons to 9-8 overall and 6-7 in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference play.  St. Cloud moves to 9-8 overall and 6-7 in the league creating a three-way tie for eighth place in the NSIC with the MSU Moorhead and U-Mary.

 The Dragons will return to action on Saturday, Jan. 29 as they host Minnesota-Crookston at 6 p.m. in Alex Nemzek Fieldhouse. The game will be broadcast on Midco Sports Network, channel 26 or 27 in the region on Midcontinent cable services.
