MOORHEAD, Minn. - The Minnesota State Moorhead women's soccer team travels to Sioux Falls, S.D. Saturday and Wayne, Neb. Sunday to continue Northern Sun play as the season end nears.
The Dragons, 8-4-1 and 4-4-1 in the NSIC, split the past weekend's matches as they defeated the Mustangs of Southwest Minnesota State 2-0 Sunday and lost to the Mavericks of Minnesota State Mankato 3-0.
Amanda Wurdeman and
Erin Nyberg contributed to scoring with a goal each and seniors
Jordyn Wallenborn and
Abby Kettler each added an assist on Senior Day.
Carole Braschayko improved her starting record at goalkeeper to 3-2-1 following the shutout against the Mustangs.
Saturday's matchup against Augustana (S.D.), 7-7 overall and 4-5 in NSIC play, will be the 13th time the two teams have gone head-to-head, with Augustana owning the 11-1 series record. The Dragons lost both matchups to the Vikings a season ago. The defeats came as a 2-1 final on September 10 and a 3-1 score in which
Ashley Swanson set up Wallenborn for the lone goal on October 24. Braschayko started her second game as a freshman against the Vikings for the October matchup. Saturday's game is scheduled for an 11 a.m. kick-off.
The Dragons will travel from Sioux Falls to Wayne on Sunday to face off with the Wildcats, 3-9-2 overall and 0-8-1 in the NSIC, for the 14th time in team history. The 4-9-1 series record is held by Wayne State including a 2-0 victory over MSU Moorhead last season. Sunday's matchup is set to start at 1 p.m.
