Dragons Fall 1-0 to Wrap-up NSIC Weekend

Box Score MOORHEAD, Minn. - An early score from Wayne State (Neb.) paves the way for a 1-0 Dragons loss Sunday in Wayne, Neb.  The loss puts the Dragons in a tie for the 10th spot in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference while the Wildcats are tied for 12th.

The Dragons (8-6-1, 4-6-1 NSIC) allowed an early goal to the Wildcats' (5-9-2, 2-8-1 NSIC) Kelly Lange in the third minute.  Lange took a pass from Alexa Romek and scored off a kick 15 feet left of the box that would pass goalkeeper Carole Braschayko.  Braschayko saved two shots on the day while allowing the lone goal.  Her starting record on the season now stands at 3-3-1.

Following the early goal, senior Katherine Adams took the ball down the field and fired a rebuttle which resulted wide right.  Two scoring opportunites were presented to the Dragons minutes after halftime.  The shots taken by senior Abby Kettler and junior Ashley Swanson both were saved.  Senior Jordyn Wallenborn fired off the Dragons' last hopes for tying the match in the 86th minute that went wide left.

Besides the lone goal, the two teams were evenly matched with 14 shots a piece.  MSU Moorhead took six shots on goal compared to WSC's three.  The Wildcats held the advantage on corner kicks getting seven off, six in the second half, compared to the Dragons' three.  Both teams committed 10 fouls while MSU Moorhead received two yellow cards from Swanson and Greta Pierce.

Kettler led the offensive attack with two shots on goal.  Four Dragons followed Kettler with one shot on goal apiece.  The Dragons finish regular season play next weekend as they look to take on Upper Iowa, Saturday and Winona State, Sunday.
