Dragons Soccer Prepares for Final Weekend of Regular Season

| By:
MOORHEAD, Minn. -  Regular season play comes to a close this weekend for the Minnesota State Unversity Moorhead women's soccer team as they travel to take on two Northern Sun foes.

MSU Moorhead (8-6-1, 4-6-1 NSIC) will take on Upper Iowa (6-7-3, 4-4-3 NSIC) in Fayette, Iowa on Saturday.  The game will kick-off at 1 p.m. for the seventh all-time meeting between the two.  The Peacocks own the 4-2 series record.  In the most recent matchup, the Dragons fell 2-1.  Katherine Adams scored the lone goal off a saved ball which ended as her only goal of the 2010 season.

The final game of the 2011 regular season will come against the sixth ranked Warriors of Winona State (12-3-1, 10-1 NSIC) on Sunday.  Kick-off will be at 1 p.m. in Winona, Minn.  Winona State currently stands at second in the NSIC behind Minnesota State Mankato.  The Warriors own the 15-6 series record against the Dragons and won last year's matchup 5-1.  Jordyn Wallenborn scored the Dragons' goal after deflecting a shot by Shiree Linholm.

A lack of scoring held the Dragons winless over last weekend's games.  Augustana, fifth in the NSIC, held MSU Moorhead scoreless during a 3-0 win.  Wayne State (Neb.), 12th in the NSIC, showed up the next day to shutout MSU Moorhead for a second straight game.  A third minute goal would prove to be all the Wildcats would need to secure a 1-0 victory.
