MOORHEAD, Minn. – The Minnesota State University Moorhead basketball team's will host the final home series of the year this weekend, hosting Winona State on Friday and Upper Iowa on Saturday. The team's will honor their seniors on Saturday along with the attempt to break the MSUM attendance record.
FILL THE FIELDHOUSE
On Saturday, the Dragon Athletics Department will host the biggest give-a-way in department history. The Dragons will give-a-way a brand new 2011 Volkswagen Jetta, an Apple iPad and over $2,000 in prizes and gift cards, all while attempting to set the Nemzek Hall basketball attendance record.
In addition to the give-a-ways, there will also be an attempt to break the current attendance record, with a goal of 2,500 people attending the game.
SENIOR NIGHT
The Dragons will also honor the seniors from the basketball teams, cheer team and dance team on Saturday. The Dragon women's basketball seniors are
Betsy Dickson and
Abby Reiter. The men's team will bid farewell to
Chad Thompson.

DRAGON WOMEN
The Dragons completed their season sweep of both Minnesota Duluth and Bemidji State last weekend as they moved their overall record to 12-10 and league mark to 9-9. The team sits seventh in the league with four games left in the regular seasons.
Junior
Angie Jetvig continues to lead the league in points per game as she bumped her average up to 19.0 after last weekend's games. She tied her career-high of 28 points on Saturday as she led the field against the Beavers. It was also Jetvig's sixth double-double of the season as she had 12 rebounds. She also is fourth in the league in rebounding with 8.4 rebounds per game.
The Dragons are out rebounding their opponents by nearly ten boards, as they are ranked fifth in the nation in rebound margin. The team is averaging 37.9 boards per game, while their opponents average only 28.3.
DRAGON MEN
The Dragon men picked up a weekend sweep for the first time this season last weekend as they took games from Minnesota Duluth and Bemidji State.
The Dragons drew revenge on the Bulldogs on Friday, after losing to them early in the season they took a quick game from the visitors on Friday, 93-72. MSUM completed their season sweep of Bemidji State on Saturday, although the Beavers led for the first 30 minutes of play.
Charlie Chapman came in halfway through the second half and hit four three-pointers for the Dragons to put the team back in the lead and to their 11th win in conference play.
Alex Novak goes into this weekend one block short of tying the MSUM career-record in blocks. He had four blocks last weekend, to move his career-total to 111 and 42 this season. Novak also ranks fourth in the nation in rebounding average, as he leads the league, with 10.7 rebounds per game.

WINONA STATE WARRIORS
The Warrior women sit in fourth in the league with a 12-6 record and a 16-6 overall tally. This weekend they look to redeem one of their losses that came earlier this season to Minnesota Crookston, as they will play the Golden Eagles on Saturday.
They come off a win over Upper Iowa last weekend, 84-77, when Katie Wolff scored a career-high 24 points. Natalie Gigler added 19 points and Michelle McDonald had 16.
McDonald leads the team as she averages 15.2 points, and 7.1 rebounds per game. Wolff leads the team in assists with 3.8 per game.
The Warrior men's team has lost two straight, including losing to Upper Iowa last weekend. It was their seventh loss in conference play, moving their league tally to 11-7 and overall mark to 15-7.
The Dragons upset the Warriors earlier this season, 95-87, on the road. The Warriors have since went 3-4 in the league.
Anthony Tucker averages 17.3 points to lead the Warriors, while Clayton Vette scores 14.1 points per game. Vette also leads the team in rebounding with 6.4 per game.
UPPER IOWA PEACOCKS
The Peacock women have lost 13 straight, as they have had an unfortunate year, with a 1-21 overall record. They are the last place team in the league with a 1-17 record.
Laura Otting averages 10.5 points per game while her teammates Cassandra Delters, Heidi McKean and Jeri Jacobson combine to average 25.9 points per game. McKean leads the team in rebounding with 6.2 per game.
The Peacock men's team pulled off an upset win over Winona State last weekend, moving their overall record to 7-15 and 6-12 in the NSIC. It was their first win in five games.
Two players average in double figures for points for the Warriors, with Matt Lesan averaging 13.7 and Tucker Wentzien averaging 12.2 points per game. Wentzien leads the rebounding efforts with 6.5 boards per game.
SERIES RECORDS
The Dragon women lead the all-time series against both of this weekend's opponents. The Dragons lead the Warriors 41-25, while they have not lost an appearance against the Peacocks, 11-0.
The Dragons trail the Warriors in the all-time record, but moved a game closer when MSUM upset WSU in their last meeting (Jan. 15). The Warriors lead 77-70 in the storied history between the teams.
MSU Moorhead holds a one game lead on the all-time series record with the Peacocks. In 11 games between the teams, the Dragons have been victorious six times.
