DRAGON WOMEN
The Dragon women are almost a lock for the 2011 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference playoffs after completing a four-game win streak on their home floor over the past two weekends. One win for the Dragons this weekend will solidify their spot in the post-season, or if Minnesota-Crookston loses on Friday against Wayne State. With so many teams hovering around the middle of the NSIC, painting the playoff picture would prove too complicated to list all the possible scenarios.
The women currently sit at 14-10 overall and 11-9 in NSIC play earning them a spot at tenth in the region, putting them very close to a possible NCAA tournament bid. Even if the worst would happen this weekend, Head Coach
Karla Nelson will record her eleventh straight winning season and post-season appearance as leader of the Dragons.
The last weekend for the Dragon women posted a pair of impressive victories over Winona State (66-51) and Upper Iowa (66-40).
Angie Jetvig posted 39 total points over the two contests, including her one-thousandth career point as a Dragon.
Brittany Mayclin also posted a solid 15 point performance against Winona State, and
Marisa Yernatich tallied 17 points against Upper Iowa.
DRAGON MEN
The Dragon men are in the 2011 NSIC post-season, but are just a few points short of having a possible home playoff game. The Dragon's 14-10 overall record and 11-9 NSIC record will be Head Coach
Chad Walthall's first winning record and playoff berth as a Dragon after taking over the team just this year.
The Dragon men are coming off a split weekend with a loss to Winona State (56-74) and a win over Upper Iowa (87-76). The Dragons struggled in three-point shooting against Winona State, but found their offensive stride against Upper Iowa behind a 22 point outing by
Dennis Williamson.
Charlie Chapman and
Tarell Clark are tied atop the list of Dragon scorers, both averaging 13.3 points per game.
AUGUSTANA VIKINGS
The Viking women are on a three-game losing streak including an overtime loss to U-Mary on Feb. 2, 94-99, despite a 30 point outing by Molly Hayes. They are led in scoring by Megan Doyle with 16.2 points per game and Hayes with 14.9 points per game. They are currently tied with the Dragons in sixth place in NSIC standings, but the Dragons would hold the tiebreaker with a victory on Friday night.
The Viking men are led in scoring by Cody Schilling who averages 20.4 points per game, but is followed closely by teammate Cameron McCaffrey with 18.6 points per game. They currently sit at 17-7 overall and 14-6 in NSIC play placing them in third place in the NSIC post-season picture at the moment.
WAYNE STATE WILDCATS
The Wildcat women are currently 22-2 overall and 19-1 in NSIC play, placing them at eighth in the country and first in the NSIC. They are led in scoring by Ashley Arlen with 16.8 points per game.
The Wildcats are rolling on a five-game win streak with the last two wins coming on the road against Northern State (61-54) and Augustana (75-55). Their last loss came at the hands of Concordia St. Paul, 91-57, on Jan. 29.
The Wildcat men are currently 11-13 overall and 7-13 in NSIC play, sitting in a three-way tie for tenth in the league with Minnesota Duluth and Upper Iowa.
The Wildcats are on a four-game losing streak with the last two losses coming at the hands of Northern State (70-78) and Augustana (47-69). They are led in scoring by Amry Shelby with 14.2 points per game and Brad Starken with 12.6 points per game.

The Wildcats are up 15-3 all-time against the Dragons and won their last matchup on Dec. 17, 2010, by a score of 75-54.
