TITUSVILLE, Fla. - The MInnesota State University Moorhead Dragon softball team evened out their 2011 record to 3-3 on Sunday as they picked up two wins in the first day of the Cocoa Beach Classic. The Dragons took wins over Johnson State and Minnesota Crookston.
GAME ONE v. JSC
The Dragons dominated the entire game against the Badgers as they took a five inning, 19-0, win. In the win,
Molly Keeler had two home runs, going 2-for-4 from the plate with three RBI and two runs.
Coley Thompson also picked up three RBI on a double in the third inning.
Amanda Moore was perfect from the plate, going 3-for-3 with four runs and one RBI. Both
Katie Howland and
Miranda Bronson picked up two RBI.
Steeli Norton moved her overall record to 2-0 as she pictched a five-hit, five-inning game. She had four strikeouts and one walk.
GAME TWO v. UMC
Mara Litzer had nine strikeouts against the Golden Eagles in the Dragons 3-0 win. Litzer moved her overall record to 1-1 and gave up three hits and one walk.
The Dragons took a 1-0 lead in the first inning as Amanda Hoefer knocked in Howland, who had advanced to third on a sacrifice bunt by Keeler. Hoefer had a single.
In the third inning, the Dragons tacked on another run by Howland who go on base on a single. She scored on a sacrifice fly by Keeler.
One more run wold go towards the Dragons' total as Litzer scored the run in the bottom of the sixth inning on a Moore single.
The Dragons will face Huntington University and Greenville College on Monday at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. (EST), respectively.
