MANKATO, Minn. - The No.5 ranked Minnesota State Mankato Mavericks took two games from the MInnesota State University Moorhead Dragons on Friday. The first game of the double header was 10-1 and game two was 8-0.
The Mavericks scored enough runs in the first inning of the first game to take the win, as Chelsea Erickson had a three-run home run with two outs to give her team the lift. They added seven more runs throughout the game.
Brandi Howell suffered the loss for the Draogns, allowing seven runs on seven hits while striking out one.
Katie Howland scored the lone run for the Dragons on the day as she led off the top of the firs tinning with a single into center field.
Miranda Bronson followed Howland's hit with a double down the left line to put the Dragons on the board.
In the second game, MSU Mankato tallied two runs in the third inninn and were able to capitalize on some Dragon errors in the fourth to gain four more runs. They tallied their final two runs in the fifth inning.
Alexa D'Onofrio suffered the loss, pitching three and a third innigs. She gave up six runs, four of which were earned, on nine hits.
