MOORHEAD, Minn. – The Minnesota State University Moorhead Dragons softball team hosted just their second home series on the season against Concordia St. Paul. The Golden Bears took both games in the Senior Day doubleheader 15-5 and 5-3.
In the opening contest the Golden Bears jumped ahead early, putting up four runs in the opening frame. The Dragons responded with three in the bottom of the second inning. With two outs and runners on second and third, senior
Mara Litzer earned a walk to fill the bases.
Howland scored the Dragons' first run when she scored on a wild pitch from the Golden Bears' Ashley Kluever.
Miranda Bronson singled in the Dragons second run, which was followed up by the second walk in the inning to catcher
Molly Keeler. A.J. Hoefer made the Golden Bears wild pitching work to the Dragons' advantage, plating the third run of the inning.
The comeback was short-lived as the Golden Bears scored six runs in the third en route to a 15-5 win.

The Dragons opened the second game in similar fashion as the Golden Bears got two on the board before the Dragons' turn to bat in the first.
Mara Litzer settled in after the first, allowing only four hits over the next five innings.
The Dragons mounted a comeback in the bottom of the sixth inning, which was kicked off by
Molly Keeler's double to left field. After a walk and a wild pitch,
Katie Howland came to the plate and got the Dragons on the board with a sharp single past third base.
Senior
Jessica Hollis came up with one out and coaxed a walk with the bases loaded to pull the Dragons with in one. With the game on the line, senior
Jessica Mroz hit a sacrifice fly to left which scored the tying run heading into the seventh.
The Golden Bears answered with three big hits in the seventh inning and took the second game by a final of 5-3. The Golden Bears advance their record to 31-19 (14-12 NSIC) while the Dragons end their season 14-24 (5-18 NSIC).
