MOORHEAD, Minn. -- Despite 17 saves by junior goalkeeper
Victoria Hoffman, the Minnesota State University Moorhead women's soccer team fell to Minnesota-Duluth, 3-1, in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference action Sunday in Moorhead, Minn.
MSUM fell to 4-11-1 overall and 3-9-1 in the NSIC, while UMD improved to 7-6-2 overall and 6-5-2 in the league.
Hoffman's 17 saves were a season-high.
UMD took a 1-0 lead on a goal by Maureen Stormont at the 26:42 mark of the opening half, and the scored stayed that way until halftime.
MSUM tied the game at the 49:13 mark when
Holly Gillund scored an unassisted goal.
The Bulldogs pulled away with two second-half goals to take a 3-1 lead, which was the final score.
Freshman
Sienna Rebollozo and Gillund had shots on goal for MSUM, while seniors
Ashley Swanson and
Carly Lengstorf had shots.
The Dragons wrap up the regular season with a pair of games this weekend, starting on the road Friday at Minot State. MSUM's regular-season finale is set for Oct. 28 at home against Mary.
