Dragon Softball Completes Day Two of Florida Games

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 | Box Score 3 KISSIMMEE, Fl. – The Minnesota State University Moorhead Dragon softball team has finished day two and played three games so far in the six day Spring Break trip to Florida.

Dragons vs. Ferris State
In day one of the games the Dragons faced Ferris State and Seton Hill. The first game was against Ferris State University. The team fell in the close game 5-4. Alexa D'Onofrio was the pitcher for the Dragons. Brittany York and Paige Smith led the team, Smith went 3-of-4 at the plate and York went 2-of-4.

Dragons vs. Seton Hill
The Dragons lost another close game in their second outing of the day against Seton Hill. The game came down to the final inning. In the top of the seventh, the Dragons were down 3-1. Burns led of the inning with a base hit.

The next batter, Smith, homered scoring two runs, tying the game at 3-3. Miranda Bronson and York followed the homer with base hits of their own. With two runners on, AJ Hoefer stepped up to the plate and singled, driving in two more runs, giving the Dragons their first lead, 5-3. However, in the bottom of the inning, Seton Hill scored three runs of their own, giving them the 6-5 victory.

Dragons vs. Slippery Rock
The Dragons opened day two of play against Slippery Rock, where they fell 7-2. On this rainy day, the game had to be suspended in the top of the seventh. The Dragons had only one out and left a runner on third. Amanda Moore led the Dragons with two hits, going 2-of-2, followed by Hoefer hitting 1-of-2 with one RBI.

The Dragons last game of the day scheduled against Shippensburg was cancelled due to rain.

The Dragons continued action today against Edinboro University of Pennsylvania at 3 p.m. and Tiffin University (Ohio) at 5 p.m. Tomorrow, March 13 the Dragons take on Indiana University of Pennsylvania at 9 a.m. and Adelphi University at 11 a.m.
