Dragon Softball Wraps Up Play in Florida

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 | Box Score 3 | Box Score 4 KISSIMMEE, Fl. – The Minnesota State University Moorhead Dragon softball team finished their Spring Break trip in Kissimmee with a 1-10 record, moving their overall season record to 3-12.

On day three of the trip, March 12, 2012 the Dragons took the field against Edinboro University of Pennsylvania and Tiffin University (Ohio).

 In the first game, against Edinboro, the Dragons fell 5-8.  The Dragons scored three of their five runs in the first inning off of four hits from Brittany York, Amanda Moore, Taylor Huss and Mollie Annen. The Dragons scored their final two runs in the top of the fifth inning. Huss led the team hitting 2-of-3 with two RBI's. York also had two RBI's and went 2-of-4 from the plate.

In game two, the Dragons faced Tiffin University. Tiffin defeated MSUM 7-4. The Dragons were led by third basemen AJ Hoefer, she hit 2-of-3 from the plate with 2 RBI's. Junior Miranda Bronson added two RBI's for the team.

The Dragons had tough outings on day four. The team first faced off with Indiana University of Pennsylvania, Indiana won the game 1-4. In the second game of the day against Adelphi University, the Dragons fell 0-14. Adelphi scored all 14 runs off 14 hits.

Day five was spent playing Wayne State University and Northwood University. Wayne State University defeated the Dragons 5-19. In game two the Dragons held Northwood University to only four runs, however, the Dragons were held scoreless.

On the last day of play for the Dragons they opened the day with a close game against Slippery Rock University. Slippery Rock was able to take the win, defeating the Dragons 4-3.

In the last game of the trip, the Dragons found their first win. The team defeated Lake Erie College 6-4. Moriah Burns led the team at the plate, hitting 2-of-3. York was also a key player for the Dragons, hitting 2-of-4 with three RBI's.

The Dragons return home to opening their conference season on March 24 against Upper Iowa University in a double header starting at 1 p.m.
