MOORHEAD, Minn. – The Minnesota State University Moorhead Dragon tennis team fell 3-6, 3-3 in singles and 0-3 in doubles, against the St. Cloud State University Huskies Friday, March 30.
Senior Kayla Huether opened up play for the Dragons, easily defeating her opponent Cassandra Brown. Huether held Brown to only two points, winning 6-0 and 6-2. Jenna Galstad was the next Dragon victory in the match. Falling behind early, 2-6, Galstad came back to take the next two sets 7-6 and 10-7, and defeat Tanya Halloran in the tough fought battle.
Sophomore Kaitlin McNary also hailed victorious for the Dragons. Taking on Hanna Kantor, McNary won 6-3 in both sets. Other single competitors for the Dragons were Kathryn Neaubauer, Alyse Grelson and Jaime LaCoursiere.
In doubles action, the team of Huether and Grelson took SCSU to extra points, but ran out of steam at the end to fall 7-9. The Teams of Galstad and Neubauer, and McNary and LaCoursiere also competed for the Dragons.
The Dragons next take the court at 8 a.m. on Sunday, April 1 in Fargo, ND at Courts Plus.
