Dragon Softball Heads South

MOORHEAD, Minn. – The Minnesota State University Moorhead Dragon softball team is headed south to Kissimmee, Fla. for spring break to play 12 games in just 6 days.

The Dragons opened their season on Feb. 28 & 29 in Vadnais Heights, Minn. where they played in the Duluth Tournament, facing four fellow Northern Sun Conference opponents.

The team went 2-2 in their first outings of the year, defeating the University of Minnesota, Crookston 16-11 and Bemidji State University 3-1, and falling 5-13 to Northern State University (S.D.) and 6-7 to the University of Minnesota Duluth.

On their spring break trip, the Dragons will take on 11 different teams from around the country, including fellow NSIC member Wayne State University.

Other Dragon opponents are Ferris State University, Seton Hill University, Slippery Rock University, Shippensburg University, Edinboro University of Pennsylvania, Tiffin University (Ohio), Indiana University of Pennsylvania, Adelphi University, Northwood University and Lake Erie College.

The games will take place between three different complexes found in Kissimmee. The Dragons will open play at Oren Brown Park against Ferris State University at 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 10. Following the game with Ferris State, the Dragons will face Seton Hill University at 3 p.m. also at Oren Brown Park.
