MOORHEAD, Minn.
– The Minnesota State Univeristy Moorhead Dragon softball team returns to Nemzek Field one last time to host the Jamestown College (N.D.) Jimmies in the last home games of the season. The double-header will be played April 18 at 12 and 2 p.m.

DRAGONS
The Dragons (9-28, 5-17 NSIC) have been placed in the No. 12 spot in the NSIC after falling 0-13 and 1-8 to the No. 21 Augustana College Vikings on April 16.

The Dragons had a tough battle against the Vikings. Augie jumped out to an early 4-0 lead in the first inning on game one. After three innings of play the Vikings had built a 12-0 lead.

The Dragons were able to hold the Vikings scoreless in the fourth inning but Augie rallied for one more run in the top of the fifth. The Dragons could not convert a single and walk in the bottom of the fifth, ending the game with a final score of 13-0.

In game two the first three innings featured a pitching dual. Junior Alexa D'Onofrio started on the mound for the Dragons and held the Vikings hitless until the fourth inning where the Vikings took a 1-0 lead.

Augie scored three runs in both the fifth and sixth innings, taking a 7-0 lead, but the Dragons responded with a run in the bottom of the sixth. With the bases loaded, AJ Hoefer took a walk, bringing in a run. With the score sitting at 7-1 the Vikings added one more run to their total in the top of the seventh.  The Dragons were unable to respond. The game ended with a final score on 8-1 in favor of the Vikings.

JIMMIES
The Jimmies (19-16, 5-3 DAC) compete in the Dakota Athletic Conference. They spilt their most recent double-header with Great Falls (Mont.), taking game one, 13-8, and falling in game two, 5-6.

In game one both teams came out strong with a score of 5-4 after one inning in favor of the Jimmies. Both teams added a couple runs in the third and fourth, sitting tied at 8-8, after four innings of play. But the Jimmies posted three runs in the fifth and one run in both the sixth and seventh innings to take the 13-8 victory.

First basemen Kate Johnson led the Jimmies in game one. She hit 4-of-5 with eight RBI's and scored two runs. The team totaled 20 hits in 42 at bats.

In game two Great Falls had the upper hand, taking a 1-0 lead after the second inning. However, the Jimmies came back with one run in the top of the third to tie things up, 1-1. In the fourth inning Great Falls scored three runs and took the lead, 4-1. But the Jimmies topped that in the top of the fifth, scoring four runs to go up one, 5-4.
