Box Score 2 MOORHEAD, Minn. – The Minnesota State University Moorhead Dragon softball team hosted the Jamestown College (N.D.) Jimmies April 18 in the last home game of the season. The Jimmies were victorious in both games, 1-7 and 2-13.
Game 1
In game one neither team got on the board until the third inning. After the Jimmies posted four runs in the top of the inning, the Dragons responded with a single run in the bottom of the third after
Paige Smith scored off a sac-fly from
Amanda Moore.
The score remained 4-1 until the top of the sixth inning. The Jimmies got the bats going, posting three runs in the top of the inning taking the lead, 7-1. The Dragons sent three batters to the plate in the sixth but could not to convert for runs. The game ended after six innings with the Jimmies getting the win, 7-1.
Game 2
The score sat tied, 0-0, until the top of the fourth inning when the Jimmies got on the board with two runs. The Dragons responded with two runs in the bottom of the inning to tie the game again, 2-2.
AJ Hoefer led off the bottom of the fourth for the Dragons with a solo home run.
Brittany York sent a single up the middle following Hoefers homer. After advancing to second on a walk from
Taylor Huss, York scored on a single up the middle from
Sam Adolph.
The Jimmies tacked on three runs in the top of the fifth, taking a 5-2 lead. The Dragons were held scoreless in the bottom of the inning. In the top of the sixth, the Jimmies rallied for eight runs, three coming from a three-run home run by the Jimmie catcher.
The Dragons were unable to respond in the bottom of the sixth inning, ending the game with the final score, 13-2, in favor of the Jimmies.
The Dragons hit the road to compete in their last games of the season on April 21 against St. Cloud State University at 1 and 3 p.m. and on April 22 against Concordia, St. Paul at 12 and 2 p.m.
