ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Minnesota State University Moorhead women's soccer team fell in an overtime heartbreaker to Concordia-St. Paul on Saturday, dropping a 3-2 decision in St. Paul, Minn. The Dragons fell to 2-4-1 overall and 1-2-1 in the NSIC, while CSP improved to 3-3-1 overall.
Amanda Olsen's goal as time expired in the first overtime gave the Golden Bears the win in a back-and-forth contest.
MSUM got goals from sophomores
Erin Nyberg and
Isabel Neyman. Junior goalkeeper
Victoria Hoffman had seven saves in net for the Dragons. Junior
Amanda Wurdeman added an assist for MSUM.
MSUM took the early lead on a goal by Nyberg, who was assisted by Wurdeman, to make it 1-0 at the 26:50 mark.
CSP came back with two unanswered goals in the first 30 minutes of the second half to take a 2-1 lead. However, Neyman found the back of net to tie things up at 2-2 at the 80:56 mark.
The game stayed that way until Olsen's goal at the 99:59 mark of overtime.
The Dragons wrap up the weekend road trip at Minnesota State, Mankato on Saturday. Game time is 1 p.m. in Mankato, Minn.
