MOORHEAD, Minn. - - Second-half goals by sophomores
Isabel Neyman and
Alyson Beare were the difference as the Minnesota State University Moorhead women's soccer team defeated Minnesota-Crookston, 2-0, in a nonconference game Wednesday in Moorhead, Minn. The Dragons improved to 1-2 on the year with the win, while UMC fell to 0-3.
The two teams battled to a scoreless halftime tie, and the score stayed that way until the 64:37 mark, when Neyman fired a shot that deflected off of a Minnesota-Crookston player into the net, giving the Dragons a 1-0 lead.
In the final minute, MSUM added an insurance goal when Beare scored off of a good pass from freshman
Lizzy Hanks to push the Dragon lead to 2-0.

Ashley Leintz recorded a shutout in her first collegiate start, stopping six shots.
MSUM held a 15-14 edge in shots, but had a 10-6 advantage in the second half. Neyman had six shots in the game, including three on goal, while Beare had four shots, including two on goal.
The Dragons begin NSIC play Saturday night at Northern State. Game time is 9 p.m. in Aberdeen, S.D.
Notes: The Dragons have four goals this season, all four scored by different players…MSUM and UMC will meet in a conference game on Oct. 7 in Crookston…through three games the Dragons are averaging 14.7 shots per game, compared to 15.3 for their opponents.
