MOORHEAD, Minn. – The Minnesota State University Dragon tennis team is heading to Bismarck, N.D. this weekend for three matches against fellow Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference opponents, Northern State, Mary and Bemidji State.
The Dragons will face Northern State on Friday at 6 p.m. and follow with the matchups against Mary (9 a.m.) and Bemidji State (3 p.m.) on Saturday.
The Dragons are 1-3 overall and 1-2 in NSIC on the season splitting their last day of competition by defeating the University of Minnesota, Duluth 6-3, and falling to St. Cloud State University 8-1.
In MSUM's victory over the Bulldogs,
Jenna Galstad,
Cassie Smith,
Morgan Smith and
Ashley Wood were victorious in singles competition. The pairs of
Kaitlin McNary and
Kaitlyn Emerson, and
Morgan Smith and
Cassie Smith won for the Dragons in doubles play.
In the Dragons bout against the Huskies, the doubles pair of
Morgan Smith and
Cassie Smith was the loan winner on the day.
Northern State is in fifth in the NSIC with a 2-2 conference record and 3-2 overall record. Minnesota, Duluth and the University of Mary rank right behind the No. 8 ranked Dragons in the conference with NSIC records of 1-3 and 0-1, respectively.
