GRAND FORKS, N.D. -- Junior
Jaime LaCoursiere's win at No. 5 singles clinched the win for the Minnesota State University Moorhead women's tennis team as the Dragons edged Minnesota-Crookston, 5-4, in a Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference match Friday night in Grand Forks, N.D.
MSUM finished the season at 3-10 overall and 3-9 in the NSIC, while Minnesota-Crookston, which will play two conference matches on Saturday, fell to 1-12 overall and 0-10 in the league.
The match was tied at 4-4 while LaCoursiere was battling UMC's Casey Paris at No. 5 singles. LaCoursiere finished the match strong with a 6-3, 6-3 win to clinch the team win for MSUM.
Including LaCoursiere's win, the Dragons won four of six singles matches. The hardest-fought match came at No. 4 singles, where MSUM freshman
Cassie Smith rallied for a 2-6, 6-3, 10-8 (super tiebreaker in third set) win over Amanda Pihlaja. Smith battled through an injury to secure the win.

Sophomore
Jenna Galstad rolled to a 6-0, 6-1 win over Holly Roepke at No. 1 singles for MSUM, while sophomore
Kaitlyn Emerson earned a straight-set win over UMC's Amanda Newman at No. 6 singles, 6-2, 6-1.
Emerson and junior
Kaitlin McNary teamed up for a crucial win at No. 3 doubles for the Dragons, fighting for a 9-8 win over Paris and Amanda Newman.
Emerson had an unbeaten day, winning both in doubles and singles for MSUM.
The Dragons did not have a senior on the roster and started as many as three freshmen in the lineup during the year. The team's entire roster is slated to return next year.
