MOORHEAD, Minn. -- The Minnesota State University Moorhead women's soccer team battled Northern State into the second overtime, but Kay Hernandez scored at the 103:11 mark to lead the Wolves past the Dragons, 1-0 in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference action Sunday in Moorhead, Minn.
MSUM fell to 0-3 overall and 0-1 in the NSIC with the loss, while Northern State improved to 4-0 overall and 1-0 in the league.
It was the Dragons' second double-overtime loss of the season.
The loss overshadowed a strong performance by Dragon sophomore goalkeeper Ashley Leintz, who had 15 saves in 103 minutes of action to help keep the Dragons in the game.
Northern State had a 32-9 edge in shots, including 16-3 edge in shots on goal.
MSUM was shorthanded as six players were unavailable for the game with an injury. MSUM started five true freshmen and one redshirt freshman in Sunday's game.
Junior Erin Nyberg led MSUM with three shots. Freshmen Micah Palmer, Gabrielle Bjorge and Lana Laudermilch all had shots on goal.
The Dragons hit the road for a pair of NSIC games next weekend, starting on Saturday at Augustana.
