MOORHEAD, Minn. -- The Minnesota State University Moorhead women's soccer team returns home this weekend for a pair of Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference matchups. The Dragons will host Minnesota State on Saturday at noon, and conclude the weekend with Concordia-St. Paul on Sunday at 1 p.m.
Both games will be at MSUM's Soccer Field.
MSUM and Minnesota State will meet for a 12th time, with the Mavericks holding a 9-2 lead in the all-time series. The Dragons will meet Concordia-St. Paul for an 18th time, with the Golden Bears leading the series 11-4-2.
The Dragons offense is led by junior
Stephanie Lindo, who has one goal, one assist and a team-high three points. Sophomore
Cara Zastrow also has a goal, while freshman
Jessica Johnson has an assist. Johnson leads the team in shots (13) and shots on goal (eight), while Lindo has 11 shots and five shots on goal. MSUM has used three different goalkeepers this season. Sophomore
Ashley Leintz leads with 37 saves in three starts; she has a team-best 1.19 goals allowed average.
Rollie Bulock is in his 16th year as MSUM's head coach with a record of 91-157-14.
About Minnesota State
The Mavericks are 5-1 overall and 3-0 in the NSIC. MSU has a 23-match NSIC unbeaten streak that it is bringing into the game on Saturday. Seven different Mankato players have scored goals this season, led by Courtney Vallarelli with three goals. Korey Kronforst and Sydney Temple share the team lead with three assists each, while Vallarelli and Kronforst each have seven points. Goalkeeper Molly McGough is 5-1 in net with 24 saves and a 0.66 goals allowed average. Brian Bahl, the former head coach at Upper Iowa, is in his first season as Minnesota State's head coach with a record of 5-1.
About Concordia-St. Paul
The Golden Bears are 2-4 overall and 1-2 in the NSIC and will face Northern State prior to facing MSUM. Concordia split on the road last weekend, beating Minnesota Crookston, 1-0 while losing to Bemidji State, 2-0. McKenzie Buck leads Concordia with two goals and four points. Three different players have assists for the Golden Bears, who have scored four goals in six games. Emma Gartner has been solid in net for Concordia with a 1-3 record and 1.00 goals allowed average. She has 19 saves. Steve Bellis is in his third season as Concordia's head coach with a record of 17-23-1 at the school.
