MOORHEAD, Minn. -- The tough luck in one-goal games continued for Minnesota State University Moorhead women's soccer team on Sunday as the Dragons were edged by Concordia-St. Paul, 1-0 in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference action at the MSUM Soccer Field in Moorhead, Minn.
MSUM fell to 0-7 overall and 0-5 in the NSIC, while Concordia-St. Paul improved to 3-5 overall and 2-3 in the league. The Dragons are now 0-4 in one-goal games this season, including two losses in double overtime.
Concordia's Alahna Anderson scored a goal 1:12 into the game to give the Golden Bears a 1-0 lead, one that stood the rest of the way.
The Dragons had a 15-11 edge in shots, including 9-4 in shots on goal. Freshman
Jessica Johnson had four shots, including two on goal, while junior
Erin Nyberg had three shots, including two on goal. Freshman
Gabrielle Bjorge had two shots, both on goal. Seven different Dragons had shots in the game.
Sophomore
Ashley Leintz had three saves. She leads the Dragons with 40 saves and a 1.14 goals allowed average this season. All four of the games she has played have been decided by one goal.
The Dragons hit the road next weekend for a pair of NSIC games, starting on Saturday at Winona State.
