MARSHALL, Minn. -- Sophomore
Micah Palmer scored a goal, but the Minnesota State University Moorhead women's soccer team came up one goal short against Southwest Minnesota State on Saturday, falling to the Mustangs 2-1 in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference action in Marshall, Minn.
MSUM fell to 3-11 overall and 2-10 in the NSIC with the loss while SMSU improved to 8-6-1 overall and 7-4-1 in the league.
The Dragons trailed 2-0 in the first half when Palmer scored off of an assist from senior
Stephanie Lindo, bringing MSUM within one. However, MSUM was unable to score the tying goal in the second half and fell one goal short.
Palmer led the Dragons with two shots on goal while Lindo added a shot on goal. Senior
Erin Nyberg and freshman
Taylor Maestas-Miller added shots.
Junior goalkeeper
Ashley Leintz had five saves for MSUM, which was outshot 12-6 in the game.
MSUM is back in action on Sunday at Sioux Falls. Game time is 1 p.m. in Sioux Falls, S.D.
