Dragon Women's Soccer Wraps Up Regular Season Against Mary and Minot State

MOORHEAD, Minn. – The Minnesota State University Moorhead women's soccer team concludes the 2014 season with a pair of games this week. MSUM will host Mary in its home finale at 3 p.m. on Friday before traveling to Minot State to conclude the season on Sunday.

MSUM and Mary will meet for a 15th time with the Marauders holding an 11-2-1 lead. The Marauders won the meeting, 3-2 in 2013. The Dragons will meet Minot State for a fifth time with the Beavers holding a 3-0-1 series lead. The Beavers won the 2013 meeting, 2-0.

MSUM (3-12, 2-11 NSIC) dropped a pair of one-goal games last weekend, falling at Southwest Minnesota State, 2-1 on Saturday despite a goal from sophomore Micah Palmer and at Sioux Falls, 1-0 on Sunday.

Eight different Dragons have scored goals this season: sophomore Jessica Johnson (two), freshman Mackenzie Carlson, senior Erin Nyberg, freshman Annika Greaney, freshman Jenai DeNardo, junior Kelsey Schatz, Palmer and Tharaldson. Carlson, sophomore Ashley Germann, Drexl, senior Stephanie Lindo and sophomore Gabrielle Bjorge each have assists.

Junior goalkeeper Ashley Leintz has 137 saves through 15 games and leads the NSIC at 9.13 per contest. She has a shutout and a .806 save percentage.

Rollie Bulock is in his 16th season as the Dragon head coach with a record of 94-164-15 at the school.

About Mary
The Marauders are 5-8-3 overall and 4-7-2 in the NSIC. They split on the road last weekend, beating Wayne State 2-1 on Oct. 25 before falling to Augustana, 2-1 on Oct. 26. The Marauders are 2-4 on the road this season and went 2-2 in their past four road games. Michelle McGeary leads the Marauders with four goals and 11 points, while Andrea Muller has three goals and six points. Zara O'Hagan has two goals, two assists and six points as well for Mary. Mary has scored 21 goals, with 11 different players scoring goal this season. Shelby Buttron has served as Mary's primary goalkeeper and has a 4-7-3 record. She has a 1.68 goals allowed average and 83 saves on the season. Buttron has two shutouts and a .776 save percentage. Sarah McNulty is in her third season as Mary's head coach with a record of 19-26-7 at the school.

About Minot State
Minot State is 8-6-2 overall and 7-5-1 in the NSIC. The Beavers split on the road last weekend, falling to Augustana, 2-1 before rebounding with a 2-1 win over Wayne State. Emilie Rebelo has 12 points and a team-high five goals for Minot State, while Kristin Long has four goals and 10 points. Jamie MacFarlane three goals and three assists for the Beavers. Eight different Minot State players have scored goals. The Beavers have 22 goals in 16 games.  Celene Johnson has been the primary goalkeeper for Minot State, posting a 7-4 record with two shutouts. She has 71 saves and a 1.09 goals allowed average. Jason Spain is in his fifth season as Minot State's head coach with a record of 50-33-11 at the school.

Leintz Ranked Nationally
Junior goalkeeper Ashley Leintz is ranked sixth in all of Division II with 137 saves. She leads the NSIC in that category and also leads the league in saves per game at 9.85

Perfect Time for First Goal
Junior Kelsey Schatz and freshmen Mackenzie Carlson and Jenai DeNardo have each scored the first goal of their college careers this season -- and all have come at critical times for the Dragons. Schatz scored the game-winning goal in a 2-1 win over Wayne State on Sunday. Carlson scored the first goal of her collegiate career earlier in the game to give the Dragons a 1-0 lead. DeNardo scored the game-winning goal in a 1-0 win over Washburn to open the 2014 season.

Captains
Seniors Stephanie LIndo and Erin Nyberg and junior Ashley Leintz are the Dragons' 2014 captains. Lindo and Nyberg will be honored as part of Senior Day on Friday when the Dragons host Mary.
