WINONA, Minn. -- The Minnesota State University Moorhead volleyball team lost in three sets to the Winona State University volleyball team on Saturday afternoon. The Warriors won the sets by scores of 25-21, 25-14, and 25-18.
With the loss, MSUM falls to 10-16 overall and 5-13 in the NSIC.

Kaitlin VanWinkle continued her impressive campaign this year by posting 12 kills in the match while hitting .286 in 28 attack attempts. Junior

Abby Wolpern had three total blocks. For the Warriors, Danielle Rampart had 14 kills and McKenna Larsen posted 39 assists.
In the first set, the Dragons jumped out to a 4-1 lead after a kill from VanWinkle. After leading 7-5, the Warriors came roaring back and scored 10 of the next 13 points to take a 15-9 lead. During that stretch, WSU had a run of four straight points on two kills each from Rampart and Kylea Roeglin. The Warriors held the lead for the rest of the set and won 25-21 on another kill from Rampart.
The Warriors jumped out to another early lead in the second set at 8-2 after a kill from Taylor Goar. Winona State increased its lead to 11 points at 20-9 on a Dragon attack error and took the set 25-14 after another Dragon attack error.
The third set was a competitive back-and-forth battle with the Dragons leading in the set as late as 13-12 after a Warrior service error. Winona State used stretches of four and five straight points to gain control of the set and won the set 25-18 after a kill from Lauren Kudronowicz to take the match 3-0.
The Dragons will return home to Alex Nemzek Fieldhouse to play in their last two matches of the season next week. MSUM will face No. 3-ranked Concordia-St. Paul on Friday night at 7 p.m. and Minnesota State Mankato on Saturday afternoon at 4 p.m
