MOORHEAD, Minn.--Four Minnesota State University Moorhead men's basketball players scored over 13 points to lead the Dragons to its tenth straight victory to open the season in Saturday night's 81-63 over Mary. The 10-0 start is MSUM's best since 2011-12 when the Dragons began 12-0 and advanced to the NCAA regional tournament. The Dragons also improve to 3-0 in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference play with the win.
The Dragons shot 45 percent (27-60) from the field and 40 percent (14-35) from the three-point line compared to 39.7 percent (25-63) from the field and 31.8 percent (7-22) from three for Mary. MSUM held a slight advantage on the glass, outrebounding the Marauders 40-37. The Dragons turned away five Mary shots, with junior forward
Isaac Sevlie adding three blocks off his own.
Leading the way for MSUM was senior guard
Jordan Riewer, who paced the team with 24 points (two off of his career high set on Nov. 22 at Alaska Fairbanks). Riewer, junior guard
Ngijol Songolo, and freshman guard led the team in assists with three each. Senior guard
Prescott Williams led the Dragons with eight and added 14 points. Other Dragons scoring in double figures included Sevlie with 15 and junior guard
Tyler Vaughan with 13.
The Dragons came out of the locker room on fire in the first half, scoring the first 15 points of the game while keeping Mary off the scoreboard for the first six minutes of the game. Vaughan started the run by hitting a three-pointer 20 seconds into the game and made the score 15-0 after a layup at the 13:51 mark of the half. Riewer hit four straight three-pointers in a two minute stretch to give MSUM a 30-10 lead with nine minutes, 43 seconds left in the half. A three-point play from Williams gave the Dragons their largest lead of the half at 40-16 with five minutes, 35 seconds to play in the half.
Mary came out resilient in the second half, cutting MSUM's lead to 13 on three different occasions in the second half, but MSUM utilized a 14-8 run to increase its lead back to 22 at 78-56 at the 3:26 mark of the second half.

Steve d'Eustachio Stat of the Game: The Dragons have now won six NSIC games in a row over the University of Mary which is their longest active streak. Their win last night over Minot was their fifth NSIC win in a row over the Beavers and they have won four straight over Minnesota Crookston.
