MOORHEAD, Minn. -- The Minnesota State University Moorhead women's tennis team is back in action this week with three matches on the road. The Dragons open the weekend with a Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference match against Minnesota State, Mankato at 5:45 p.m. on Friday in St. Peter, Minn.
The Dragons will follow with two nonconference matches on Saturday. MSUM will face the College of St. Scholastica at 8:30 p.m. on Saturday and conclude the weekend with a match against Gustavus Adolphus at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday.
All three matches will be held at the Swanson Tennis Center on the Gustavus Adolphus campus in St. Peter.
MSUM (2-3, 2-2 NSIC) is coming off of a pair of home losses last weekend. The Dragons lost to Mary, 8-1 on Saturday and were edged by Upper Iowa, 5-4 on Sunday. Sophomore
Ashley Wood went 2-0 in singles for the week for MSUM.
Wood leads MSUM with a 4-1 singles mark, while freshman
Jessamy Jones is 3-2 at No. 1 singles. Sophomore
Morgan Smith is 3-2 at No. 4 singles for the Dragons.

About Minnesota State: The Mavericks are 3-6 on the year. They went 1-2 in their last weekend of action on Feb. 14-16, losing to Mary, 5-4 and Augustana, 9-0 but beating Minnesota Crookston, 8-1. Melissa Mashburn leads MSU with a 6-3 singles mark. Mashburn has also teamed up with Sarah McCann for a 6-3 doubles mark. Christie Williams is in her third season as Minnesota State's head coach.
About St. Scholastica: St. Scholastica is 3-2 on the season. The team lost to Wisconsin-LaCrosse, 9-0 in its last action on Feb. 23. Jessica Solberg is 4-1 in singles this season for the Saints while Katie Kingston is 3-0. Four Saints have 4-1 doubles marks: Alexis Gunderson, Alexa Herbst, Madeleine Scanlan and Solberg. Wells Patten is in his 18th season as St. Scholastica's head coach.
About Gustavus: The Gusties are 0-1 on the year, with their loss coming to Division I Drake on Feb. 15 (7-0). The team will face MSU Mankato and St. Scholastica prior to facing MSUM. Sidney Dirks leads the team with a 4-3 record in singles, mostly coming from individual tournaments. Michaela Schulz is 5-2 in singles for the Gusties. Jon Carlson is in his 24th season as the Gustavus head coach.
