MOORHEAD, Minn. -- The Minnesota State University Moorhead men's basketball team fell short in the final game of a four-game homestand on Saturday, dropping a tough 70-67 decision to Minnesota Duluth in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference action Saturday in Moorhead, Minn.
MSUM fell to 16-6 overall and 12-6 in NSIC while UMD improved to 10-12 overall and 8-10 in the league.

Malik Wood paced MSUM with 17 points, while sophomore guard
Tyler Vaughan had 13 points. Senior guard
Tarell Clark had eight points, four assists, two blocks and tied a career-high with 18 rebounds.
The Dragons shot just 34.4 percent (22-of-64) for the game, compared to 47.3 percent (26-of-55) for the Bulldogs. MSUM shot just 23.8 percent (5-of-21) from the three-point line. UMD had a slight 41-39 edge in rebounds.
MSUM was down by as many as eight in the first half and was down 34-29 at halftime. In the second half, they opened on a 16-8 run to build a 45-42 lead. Vaughan led the way with eight points during that run, including two threes, while Clark had six points.
The lead lasted less than two minutes as UMD scored five straight points to regain the lead at 50-47. While MSUM was able to tie the game on four more occasions, the Dragons never regained the lead.
UMD pushed the lead to 69-64 with 1:10 left, but Wood hit a pair of foul shots to bring MSUM within 69-66 with less than a minute left. MSUM had a chance to tie with less than 10 seconds left but the shot spun out. Wood hit 1-of-2 free throws to make it 69-67, and on the other end, UMD hit 1-of-2 to make it 70-67 with five seconds left.
The Dragons were not able to get off a tying three-point attempt as they were fouled with 1.9 seconds left. Duluth grabbed the rebound off of the second miss and ran out the final second.

Prescott Williams had seven points and five rebounds for MSUM. Sophomore center
Isaac Sevlie added six points.
The Dragons are at Augustana on Friday, Feb. 14.
Steve d'Eustachio Stat of the Game: Tonight was the 48th straight game where the Dragons have attempted at least 15 three-pointers in a game; the last time they didn't was when they went 4/10 from deep in their 70-57 win at Concordia College (Moorhead) on Nov. 20, 2012. It was also the 58th consecutive NSIC regular season game when they attempted at least 15 bombs; the last time this didn't happen was during their 55-51 victory at Wayne St. on Dec. 17, 2011 when they hit 6/14 from downtown.
