ST. PETER, Minn. – The Minnesota State University Moorhead women's tennis team split a pair of nonconference matches on Saturday, beating St. Scholastica, 5-4 and losing to Gustavus Adolphus, 8-1.
MSUM is now 4-4 on the year.
"I'm really proud of our team this weekend," MSUM head coach
Oliver Summers said. "We had two great wins and although we had some injuries in the last match we still left it all on the court."

Jessamy Jones teamed up with sophomore
Morgan Smith to earn an 8-2 win over Alexis Gunderson and Jessica Solberg at No. 1 doubles.
MSUM's Jones earned a 6-4, 6-0 win over Gunderson at No. 1 singles. Sophomore
Cassie Smith followed with a tough 6-4, 7-5 win over Kelsey Geiger at No. 5 singles. Sophomore
Ashley Wood also won, earning a 6-0, 6-4 win over Allie Carlson at No. 6 singles. The Staings won at No. 2 and No. 3 singles to tie the match at 4-4.
Morgan Smith was the final match on the court at No. 4 singles and the Dragon sophomore prevailed, 6-0, 6-4 to clinch a 5-4 MSUM win.

The Dragons lost all three doubles matches against the Gusties (3-1), who are ranked No. 11 in the Division III region. The closest match was at No. 2 doubles where Lizzy Stancyk and Annie Mahoney beat MSUM freshman
Rebecca Lukes and
Ashley Wood, 8-6.
Wood had the lone win in the match for MSUM, earning a 6-3, 6-3 win over Aryn Eckstrom at No. 4 singles.
MSUM is off until March 17 when it faces West Chester in Tampa, Fla.
