ABERDEEN, S.D. – Junior shortstop
was 2-for-4 with a run scored, while sophomore second baseman Kristen Nordby was 2-for-2. Huss had a double, while junior center fielder Mollie Annen, junior catcher Brittany York, freshman first baseman Lauren Meeker and Nybo also had hits.

MSUM had the bases loaded with one out in the sixth but were unable to get a run across. In the seventh, with one out, Tice reached on an infield hit. One out later, Huss crushed a double to right-center field, and Tice hustled around the bases to score to give MSUM the thrilling 1-0 win.

"Morgan threw a great game, and we were excellent defensively as well," MSUM head coach Kelsey Fehl said. "Heather Tice did a great job getting on base and Taylor came through with a huge hit for us."

It was the Dragons' first win over Concordia-St. Paul since April 10, 2007. Fehl was the starting third baseman in that game for MSUM.

MSUM was aiming for a sweep in the second game but fell victim to a two-run sixth inning by the Golden Bears.
Tice was 2-for-3 with an RBI in the second game, while York had a double. Annen, junior right fielder Rachel Sannicandro and sophomore Kristy Bruni had hits for MSUM.

Nordby pitched well in defeat for the Dragons, allowing two runs (one earned) in seven innings. She struck out nine, which was a career-high. She allowed five hits and walked only one.

The game was a pitching duel between Nordby and Concordia's Linzy Heim for five innings as the two teams battled to a 0-0 scoreless tie. In the sixth, Concordia scored twice off of three hits to take a 2-0 lead.

The Dragons battled back in the sixth. Sannicandro led off the inning with a single, and moved to second on a groundout. Tice singled to left center, allowing Sannicandro to score and bringing the Dragons within one run.

York ripped a double to right-center to put the tying and go-ahead runs in scoring position. Huss was intentionally walked to load the bases. The Dragons were unable to push the tying run across, though, as a pair of strikeouts ended the threat.

MSUM wraps up the weekend with a doubleheader against Minnesota State on Monday. The twinbill begins at 11 a.m. at Swisher Field in Aberdeen, S.D.

Notes: MSUM pitchers have allowed just four earned runs in their last 31 innings of work, leading to an ERA of 0.90 during that time…teams are hitting just .212 against MSUM during that span…Nordby has a .467 on-base percentage in her last four games…through 19 games this year MSUM pitchers have three complete-game shutouts after recording a total of three in 43 games a year ago.
