MSUM Softball Continues Busy Stretch With Three Road Doubleheaders This Week

-- on April 3 was MSUM's first win over the Huskies since 2011. MSUM's thrilling 1-0 win over Concordia on Sunday -- which came as a result of a walkoff double by junior Taylor Huss and a four-hit shutout by sophomore Morgan Nybo -- in Aberdeen, S.D., was the Dragons' first win over the Golden Bears since the 2007 season.

The Dragon offensive attack is led by junior center fielder Mollie Annen, who is hitting .271 with three doubles, a homer and three RBI. Nordby is hitting .250 with two homers and four RBI, while junior catcher Brittany York is hitting .246 with a homer and a team-best eight RBI.

On the mound, Nordby is 3-6 with a 3.72 ERA in 64 innings. She has one shutout. Nybo is 4-7 with a 4.30 ERA in 70 innings and has 45 strikeouts and two shutouts on the season.

Former Dragon standout Kelsey Fehl is in her fourth season as MSUM's head coach.

About Mary: The Marauders are 19-15 overall and 4-6 in the NSIC. They were swept at home on April 6, falling 11-3 and 4-1 to Winona State, one of the league's preseason favorites.  Allison Brown leads Mary with a .444 average to go with six homers, 14 doubles and 32 RBI. Amber Gamboa is hitting. 388 a homer and 12 RBI. On the mound, Cherlyn Trujillo is 7-6 with a 2.29 ERA in 94.2 innings. She has 90 strikeouts. KJ Kelley is in her first season as Mary's head coach with a 19-15 record.

About Winona State: The Warriors are 22-6 overall and 5-3 in the NSIC. They went 2-2 on their North Dakota road trip last weekend, losing two games at Minot State on April 5 before sweeping Mary by scores of 4-1 and 11-3 on April 6.  Winona State will face Concordia-St. Paul for a doubleheader on Wednesday prior to facing the Dragons. Winona State's offense is led by Lexi Perez, who is hitting .413 in 46 at-bats, and Morgan Lintz, who is hitting .400 with 10 doubles. Winona State is hitting .338 as a team so far. On the mound, Ashley Walker is 7-4 with a 2.53 ERA while Hanna Lythberg is 11-2 with a 2.69 ERA.  Greg Jones is in his 14th season as Winona State's head coach with a record of 543-202-4.

About Upper Iowa:  The Peacocks, who will face Minnesota State, Mankato and Northern State in doubleheaders prior to facing the Dragons, are 11-17 overall and 4-4 in the NSIC. They went 2-2 on their North Dakota road trip, earning splits against Mary and Minot State. Jacqueline Flood leads Upper Iowa with a .368 average with two homers and 13 RBI. Adrienna Olson is hitting .342 for the Peacocks, while Erica Kirgan has seven homers and 20 RBI. On the mound, Brooke Redmond is 9-7 with a 2.76 ERA in 88.2 innings. Amanda Bradberry is in her first season as Upper Iowa's head coach with a record of 11-17 at the school.
