ABERDEEN, S.D. – The Minnesota State University Moorhead women's soccer team battled to a 0-0 tie for 85 minutes, but a late goal helped Northern State edge the Dragons, 1-0 in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference action Sunday in Aberdeen, S.D.
MSUM is 1-2 overall and 0-1 in the NSIC with the loss while Northern State improved to 2-2 overall and 1-0 in the league.
Northern State finished with 23 shots compared to 20 for MSUM. Northern State had seven shots on goal while the Dragons had four.
Junior goalkeeper
Ashley Leintz had six saves for the Dragons in the defeat. Sophomore
Jessica Johnson led the Dragons with six shots, including three on goal. Senior
Erin Nyberg had three shots. Junior
Sienna Rebollozo added a shot on goal for MSUM.
The Dragons return home this week for a pair of NSIC games, starting on Saturday at 1 p.m. against Minnesota Duluth. It is the start of a season-long four-game homestand for the Dragons.
