MOORHEAD, Minn. -- The Minnesota State University Moorhead women's soccer team fell to Minnesota Duluth, 4-0 in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference action Saturday in Moorhead, Minn.
MSUM fell to 1-3 overall and 0-2 in the NSIC with the loss while the Bulldogs improved to 2-3 overall and 2-0 in the league. UMD, which advanced to the national quarterfinals last season, was picked to finish second in the NSIC in the preseason coaches poll.
The Bulldogs scored 1:57 into the game and added another first-half goal to build a 2-0 lead which it took into halftime. They added two more second-half goals to secure the win.
MSUM finished the game with five shots, led by senior
Stephanie Lindo and freshman
Mackenzie Carlson with two each. Lindo had the shot on goal. Sophomore
Micah Palmer also had a shot for the Dragons.
Junior goalkeeper
Ashley Leintz had eight saves in 68:26 of action for MSUM while freshman
Reagan VonBerge, in her Dragon debut, had two saves.
The Dragons will look for a weekend split against St. Cloud State on Sunday at 1 p.m. in Moorhead.
