MSUM Soccer Loses to Augustana 3-0

MOORHEAD, Minn.- The Minnesota State University Moorhead soccer team lost to Augustana 3-0 Saturday afternoon. With the loss, the Dragons fall to 1-5 on the season and 0-4 in the NSIC. The Vikings improved to 5-1 and 4-0 in the NSIC.

Junior goalkeeper Ashley Leintz made nine saves on the day for the Dragons while freshman MacKenzie Carlson led the offensive attack with two shots on goal.

The Vikings got the scoring started in the 24th minute of the first half when Annie Thoreson found Samantha Arnold for a goal.

Augustana found the back of the net two more times in the second half, first on a penalty kick from Stephanie Stephens in the 48th minute. In the 69th minute, Samantha Tymkowicz and Arnold both had shots deflect off the post before Arnold passed to Tymkowicz and drained a shot in the back of the net for a third goal.

The Dragons will play again on Sunday afternoon against Wayne State, starting at 1 p.m. from the MSUM Soccer Field.
