MOORHEAD, Minn. --
Jenai DeNardo's goal with less than 21 minutes left was the game-winner as the Minnesota State University Moorhead women's soccer team edged Washburn University, 1-0 in nonconference action Friday in Moorhead, Minn.

The game was a scoreless battle for the first 69 minutes until the Dragons broke the deadlock. Senior
Stephanie Lindo broke free and fired a shot on goal that was deflected by Washburn goalkeeper Tori Fugilster. DeNardo, a freshman making her Dragon debut, took the rebound and fired the ball to the back of the net for the game's first -- and only -- goal to give MSUM a 1-0 lead.

Ashley Leintz helped preserve that advantage by recording several key saves. The Bismarck, N.D., native finished with seven on the day to record her fourth career shutout.
Lindo paced the Dragons with three shots, including two on goal, while sophomore
Jessica Johnson and DeNardo each had two.
MSUM will look for its second straight nonconference win on Sunday against Northwest Missouri State. Game time is 1 p.m. at the MSUM Soccer Field.
