MARSHALL, Minn. -- Four Minnesota State University Moorhead players scored in double figures to help the Dragons earn a 79-53 win over Southwest Minnesota State in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference women's basketball Saturday night in Marshall, Minn.

MSUM in Saturday's win.MSUM improved to 8-8 overall and 7-5 in the NSIC with the win while SMSU fell to 2-14 overall and 2-10 in the league.
Junior guard Megan Roehrich led MSUM with 26 points; she added five rebounds, a career-high five steals and four assists. Sophomore guard
Morgan Banasik recorded her first career double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds, while redshirt freshman forward
Drew Sannes added 12 points, eight rebounds and three blocks off the bench. Junior forward
Heather Strese added 11 points for MSUM while sophomore guard
Natalie Van Wyhe had six assists. Nine of the 11 Dragons who saw playing time scored.
The Dragons shot 48.2 percent (27-of-56) for the game while holding the Mustangs to 33.3 percent (20-of-60) shooting. The Dragons had a 43-29 edge in rebounds.
MSUM trailed by as many as six early and was down 14-11 with 9:58 left in the first half but used defense to surge into the lead. The Dragons held SMSU without a point for more than five minutes and went on an 13-0 run during that time to build a 24-14 lead with 5:06 in the half. Banasik was the catalyst during that run with seven points while freshman guard
Mallie Doucette added four.
The Dragons took a 35-22 lead into halftime, with Roehrich leading the way with 11 first-half points. Doucette and Banasik had seven each.
Already with a double-digit lead, MSUM took firm control in the second half by outscoring the Mustangs 29-11 over the first 11:16 to build a commanding 64-33 lead. The Dragons, who shot 55.6 percent in the second half, led by as many as 33 on their way to the 26-point road win.
MSUM opens a four-game homestand on Jan. 23 to host Minnesota Crookston. Game time is 6 p.m. at Nemzek Fieldhouse.
