MOORHEAD, Minn.--Two Dragons combined to score 47 points as the Minnesota State University Moorhead men's basketball team defeated Bemidji State 89-69 on Saturday night in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference play. Senior guard
Jordan Riewer scored 24 points while junior
Isaac Sevlie had 23 points.
The Dragons improved to 22-1 and 13-1 in the NSIC while Bemidji State dropped to 7-11 and 3-11 in conference play. Saturday's win marked the 20
th time this season MSUM won by 11 or more points and the 11
th time they have won by 20 or more points.
MSUM shot 48.3 percent (29-of-60) from the field and 92.5 percent (25-of-27) from the free throw line in the game. For the second night in a row, the Dragons outrebounded their opponent, holding a 38-30 advantage over the Beavers on the boards.
Riewer led the team in scoring, rebounding, and assists with 24, six, and seven, respectively. Junior guard
Tyler Vaughan also had six rebounds, tied for the most in the game. Riewer scored 24 on 7-of-14 shooting from the field and 8-of-8 shooting from the free throw line while Sevlie scored 23 on 8-of-10 shooting from the field and 7-of-7 shooting from the free throw line.
The Beavers led by as much as four on two separate occasions in the first ten minutes of the game, but the Dragons snagged the lead at 20-19 with 10:50 left in the first half and never trailed after that point. MSUM led as much as 13 points in the first half and took a 48-38 lead heading into the break. The Dragons scored 24 points in the paint in the first half, led by 19 points from Sevlie.
The Dragons lead was never less than nine or more than 15 throughout the majority of the second half, until the Dragons went on a 12-4 run to end the game. Junior guard
Evan Holt hit a three-pointer with 40 seconds left to make the score 89-69 and finish out the scoring.
The Dragons will return to action on Friday, Jan. 30 when they host Concordia-St. Paul. Tipoff from Alex Nemzek Fieldhouse is scheduled for 8 p.m.

Steve d'Eustachio Stat of the Game: The Dragons won their eighth ballgame in the month of January tonight (8-0) besting the seven wins they had in both November (7-0) and December (7-1) earlier this season. Before this season, and going back to 2000, the Dragons had only won six ballgames in a calendar month six times (6-2 in Feb. 2014, 6-3 in Feb. 2012, 6-0 in Dec. 2011, 6-1 in Dec. 2007, 6-0 in Nov. 2005, and 6-2 in Dec. 2003).
