MOORHEAD, Minn. — The Minnesota State University Moorhead women's soccer team cut a two-goal deficit to one in the second half, but Southwest Minnesota State scored two unanswered goals to secure a 4-1 win over the Dragons in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference action Saturday in Moorhead, Minn.
The Dragons were outshot 22-15 in the game, including 11-7 in shots on goal.
Sophomore forward
Mackenzie Carlson scored her first goal of the season for MSUM, while junior
Jessica Johnson and freshman
Jessica Dallman added assists. Sophomore
Corina Edgington had seven saves in the contest.
Miranda Cadena had a hat trick to pace SMSU.
The Mustangs led 2-0 at halftime. In the 61st minute, the Dragons cut the lead in half when Carlson scored off of assists from Johnson and Dallman to move within 2-1.
The momentum didn't last long for MSUM, however, as the Mustangs scored two goals in a span of 46 seconds to push the lead to 4-1.

Megan Selanders led MSUM with four shots each. Selanders and freshman
Kaelyn Hanson each had two shots on goal.
MSUM wraps up the weekend on Sunday by hosting Sioux Falls for a 1 p.m. game in Moorhead.
