MOORHEAD, Minn. — The Minnesota State University Moorhead men's basketball team stretched its winning streak to 10 with a 77-56 nonconference win over Mayville State in action Monday night at Nemzek Fieldhouse in Moorhead, Minn.
MSUM improved to 10-1 overall on the season.

Aaron Lien paced MSUM with 19 points, while senior forward

Tyler Vaughan led with three steals.
The Dragons shot 41.1 percent (30-of-73) for the game, compared to 37.7 percent (23-of-61) for the Comets. MSUM led 48-38 in rebounds, including 18-8 on the offensive glass.
The Dragons forced 14 Comet turnovers which led to a 23-5 advantage in points off of turnovers.
MSUM never trailed, opening the game on an 8-0 run and taking a 41-35 lead into halftime. Lien had 13 first-half points while Sevlie had 10. MSUM shot 41 percent (16-of-39) in the first half, compared to 46.7 percent (14-of-30). The Dragons had a 25-16 edge in rebounds in the first half.
In the second half, the Dragon defense took control, forcing 10 Comet turnovers and holding Mayville to 29 percent (9-of-31) shooting from the field.
Mayville State cut the lead to 41-37 with 17:47 left in the second half, but the Dragons responded with an 11-0 run to take their biggest lead to that point at 52-37. Vaughan led the way during that stretch with five points while Lien converted a three-point play. From there, the Dragons steadily pulled away to the 21-point win.
MSUM plays host to St. Cloud State at 8 p.m. Friday in a return to Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference action.
Vaughan finished with nine points and four assists while Kretchman had eight points.
