MOORHEAD, Minn. – The Minnesota State University Moorhead women's tennis team takes its unbeaten 3-0 record on the road this week for a pair of Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference matches in Bismarck, N.D. MSUM will face defending NSIC champion Augustana at 1 p.m. on Saturday and then face Sioux Falls at 5 p.m. later that day.
The Dragons are coming off of a 2-0 weekend, where they beat Minnesota Duluth and St. Cloud State by identical scores of 8-1.
MSUM has three players who are undefeated at 3-0 in singles this season: senior
Andrea Rognlien, junior
Ashley Wood and sophomore
Jessamy Jones.
The Dragons have yet to lose a doubles match this season, led by Rognlien, Wood, junior
Cassie Smith, Jones and freshman
Sammie Smith with 3-0 records.
Oliver Summers is in his third year as MSUM's head coach.
About Augustana: The Vikings are 5-1 overall and 2-0 in the NSIC. Their only loss was to Division I South Dakota. Meredith Lawrence is 5-0 on the season in singles for Augustana while Jessa Richards is 4-0. In doubles, Sydney Postal and Richards have combined for a 5-0 mark. Marc Kurtz is in his seventh year as Augustana's head coach.
About Sioux Falls: The Cougars are 2-1 overall and 1-1 in the NSIC. They went 2-1 at home last weekend, beating Southwest Minnesota State (9-0) and Gustavus Adolphus (9-0) before losing to Minnesota State (6-3). Joey Bosch and Kara Bunkers are each 3-0 in singles play for the Cougars. Bunkers and Abby Seigenthaler have teamed up for a 3-0 doubles mark. Kevin Grebin is in his 15th season as USF's head coach.
