Box ScoreFARGO, N.D. – The Minnesota State University Moorhead women's tennis team fell to a strong Gustavus Adolphus squad on Sunday, dropping a 6-3 nonconference contest at Courts Plus in Fargo, N.D.
MSUM fell to 9-9 on the year while Gustavus Adolphus improved to 13-12.
"It was a great job by all our players today," MSUM head coach
Oliver Summers said. "My goal for the players today was to stay relaxed, have fun and enjoy it and they did. This was a good nonconference match to prepare us for our tournament next week. Andrea, Rebecca and Cassie all got great wins today."
Gustavus won two of the three doubles matches. MSUM's win came at No. 3 doubles, where junior
Cassie Smith and sophomore
Rebecca Lukes teamed up for an 8-5 win over Taylor Shortly and Cal Carlson.
MSUM won two singles matches, claiming victories at the No. 1 and No. 6 slots. Senior
Andrea Rognlien defeated Michaela Schulz, 7-5, 6-3 at No. 1 singles while Lukes rolled to a 6-2, 6-3 win over Carlson at No. 6 singles.
The Dragons are off until Saturday when they opening play at the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference tournament in Minnetonka. The Dragons, the No. 3 seed, will face St. Cloud State at 11:30 a.m. at Lifetime Fitness Oakdale in Minnetonka.
