MSUM is now 14-27 on the season while Bemidji State fell to 17-27.

In the opener, senior catcher Brittany York was 3-for-3 with a two-run homer and three RBI. Junior outfielder Kristy Bruni was 2-for-3 with a two-run homer, a double and two RBI. Senior Mollie Annen was 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI. Sophomore first baseman Lauren Meeker was 1-for-2 with an RBI while sophomore third baseman Kristina Villalobos and sophomore designated hitter Hannah Klug were each 1-for-3 with an RBI, while senior shortstop Taylor Huss and sophomore left fielder Carly Williamson had hits.

Nybo was dominant on the mound, firing a three-hit shutout. She struck out five and walked none.

MSUM finished with 13 hits in the game.

"It was good to score a lot of runs, especially early," MSUM head coach Kelsey Fehl said. "We had good pitching and solid defense as well. It was a good team win."

The Dragons got on the board quickly in the first. Annen singled, and one out later, scored on a two-run homer from York, giving the Dragons a 2-0 lead. The lead grew to 4-0 in the second. Meeker walked and moved to second on a wild pitch. Williamson singled to move Meeker to third. Williamson advanced to second on a groundout. Klug delivered with a key two-out hit, a single to left, to score Meeker, giving MSUM a 3-0 lead. York added another key single with two out to score Williamson, pushing the Dragon lead to 4-0.

The offense wasn't through. Huss doubled to lead off the third, and one out later, Nybo walked. Villalobos hit a bloop single to right to score Huss and move Nybo to second. Both runners advanced on a wild pitch. Meeker singled to left to score Nybo to make it 6-0, and one out later, Annen doubled to left to score Villalobos with MSUM's seventh run.

MSUM's offense kept the pressure on in the fourth. York singled, and was pinch-ran for by senior Rachel Sannicandro. One out later, Bruni hit a two-run homer to left field to score Sannicandro, pushing MSUM's lead to 9-0.

That was plenty for Nybo, who allowed only four baserunners, to post her second complete-game shutout of the season.

In the second game, Nybo pitched six scoreless innings to pick up her second win of the day. She allowed five hits, struck out two and walked one. Williamson retired all three batters she faced to pick up the first save of her collegiate career.

Williamson was 1-for-2 with an RBI while Meeker was 1-for-2 with a double to pace the offense.

The second game was a classic pitching duel between Nybo and Bemidji State's Jessica Yost. Yost allowed two hits while Nybo allowed just five.

MSUM's two hits both came in the sixth. Meeker doubled to lead off the inning. Sophomore Katelyn Ramberg pinch-ran for Meeker. Williamson singled up the middle to score Ramberg with the game's only run.

Bemidji State threatened in the seventh, putting runners on second and third with nobody out, which spelled the end of Nybo's outing. Williamson got the first batter to pop out to second. Annen made a sliding catch in center field on a hit by Shea to save a run, and Roberts grounded out to sophomore Jill Fox at second to end the game.

"Morgan did a good job of keeping them off-balance," Fehl said. "We made some key plays defensively and we were able to string together hits when it mattered the most."

MSUM wraps up the 2015 season at Minnesota Crookston on Sunday. The doubleheader begins at 1 p.m. in Crookston, Minn.
