MSUM Women's Soccer Hits the Road to Face Bulldogs and Huskies

MOORHEAD, Minn. — The Minnesota State University Moorhead women's soccer team hits the road this weekend for a pair of Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference games.  MSUM opens the weekend at Minnesota Duluth on Saturday (1 p.m.) and ends the weekend at St. Cloud State on Sunday at 1 p.m.

It marks the first conference road trip of the 2015 season for the Dragons (1-0-2, 1-0 NSIC).

The Dragons opened NSIC play with a 1-0 win over Northern State on Sept. 13. Junior forward Sienna Rebollozo scored the winning goal off of an assist from senior Lindsey Micheletti.  Senior goalkeeper Ashley Leintz had 13 saves for MSUM to preserve the shutout.

Rebollozo and junior forward Jessica Johnson each have scored goals this season for MSUM while Micheletti has two assists. Johnson leads with 17 shots while sophomore Mackenzie Carlson has 11.

Leintz has 33 saves in three games and has a 0.29 goals allowed average. Leintz has a .971 save percentage and two shutouts.

Rollie Bulock is in his 17th season as MSUM's head coach.

About Minnesota Duluth
The Bulldogs — who faced St. Cloud State on Tuesday night in their NSIC opener — are 1-2 on the season. UMD got into the win column on Sept. 13 with a 3-0 win over Northern Michigan. Prior to that, the Bulldogs had lost to Michigan Tech (2-1) and No. 7 Central Missouri (6-0).  Kailey Beatt leads UMD with two goals and four points, while sophomore Nicole Becker and sophomore Taylor Johnson each have one point and two goals. Four different UMD players have added assists. Three different players have appeared in goal for the Bulldogs, with sophomore Jordan Melby leading the way with 12 saves. Freshman Carlye Wright has seven saves and has a shutout this season. Greg Cane is in his 22nd season as the Bulldog head coach with a record of 230-129-34 at the school.

About St. Cloud State
The Huskies — who faced Minnesota Duluth on Tuesday night in their NSIC opener — are 1-1 on the season. St. Cloud State opened with a 2-1 win over Northern Michigan on Sept. 4 before losing to Michigan Tech, 3-0 on Sept. 6.  Freshman Maria Kass has two goals and four points, while junior Bailly Drayton had an assist.  Junior Brittany Plombon has 12 saves and a 2.00 goals allowed average through two starts. Gretta Arvesen is in her second season as SCSU's head coach with a record of 7-12-1 at the school.

Dominant Defense
The Dragon defense has been stellar through three games, allowing just one goal in three games. MSUM has now allowed a goal in the last 3:03.49 of action, going back to the early moments of the season-opener against Jamestown. Senior goalkeeper Ashley Leintz has led the way, recording two shutouts in the first three games while stopping 33 shots, most in the NSIC this season.
Juniors Ashley Germann and Gabrielle Bjorge have been anchors on defense, playing every minute this season.

Leintz Leads NSIC
Leintz leads the NSIC in save percentage (.971), saves per game (11.00) and with 33 total saves. Her 0.29 goals allowed average is second in the conference behind Anne Fobbe of Bemidji State. Leintz is MSUM's all-time leader in saves per game.
