MOORHEAD, Minn. – Senior midfielder
Lindsey Micheletti scored a goal in the 88th minute to tie the game, but the Minnesota State University Moorhead women's soccer team had to settle for the tie on Sunday in a 1-1 double overtime decision against Wayne State in Wayne, Neb.
MSUM fell to 1-3-3 overall and 1-3-1 in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference while Wayne State is 0-5-3 and 0-4-1 in the league.
MSUM had a 21-16 edge in shots, including a 10-7 advantage in shots on goal. Junior defender
Gabrielle Bjorge led MSUM with three shots on goal.
The Dragons trailed 1-0 for nearly 85 minutes before Micheletti scored off of an assist from freshman
Jessica Dallman at the 87:53 mark to tie the game at 1-1. It was Micheletti's first goal of the year and the first assist of Dallman's collegiate career.
Neither team was able to find the back of the net in either overtime period, leaving the game at 1-1.
Senior goalkeeper
Ashley Leintz had six saves for the Dragons.
MSUM returns home next weekend for a pair of NSIC games, starting on Saturday against Minnesota State. Game time is noon at the MSUM Soccer Field.
