QUINCY, Ill. — Three players scored in double figures and a dominant defensive effort helped the Minnesota State University Moorhead women's basketball team roll to a 73-44 win over Quincy in nonconference action Friday night in Quincy, Ill.
MSUM is now 1-1 on the year while Quincy is 0-3.
How it happened…
MSUM used an all-around effort to win by a comfortable margin. The Dragons had a commanding 45-22 edge in rebounds and held Quincy to just 32 percent shooting (16-of-50). MSUM shot 48.4 percent (30-of-62) from the field and had three players in double figures: junior guard
Cassidy Thorson (16 points), junior guard
Drew Sannes (13 points) and sophomore guard
Jacky Volkert (11).
MSUM led 18-10 after one quarter, thanks to a three-pointer from junior forward
Shannon Galegher.
The Dragons steadily added to the lead in the second quarter and pushed the advantage to 38-21 after Volkert buried a three-pointer with 31 seconds left.
MSUM remained in control the rest of the way and led by as many as 31 points (71-40) — after a three-point play from freshman forward
Madi Green — with 3:59 left.
Impact Performances…
Three Dragons scored in double figures, led by Thorson with 16 points on 4-of-7 three-point shooting. Sannes had her first double-double season with 13 points and 12 rebounds. Volkert was the third Dragon in double figures at 11 points.

Megan Hintz had career-highs of eight points and six rebounds.
