MOORHEAD, Minn. — Junior
Drew Sannes set a new career-high and recorded her fifth straight double-double to lead the Minnesota State University Moorhead women's basketball team to an 82-59 rout of Mary on Friday at Nemzek Fieldhouse in Moorhead, Minn.
MSUM improved to 5-1 overall with its fifth straight win. The Dragons are now 2-0 in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference. Mary saw a five-game winning streak end and fell to 6-4 overall and 1-1 in the league.
Sannes finished with a career-high 32 points, easily surpassing her previous career-high of 20, and 15 rebounds, just one away from a career-best.
How it happened…
MSUM's three-point shooting in the first half was the difference as the Dragons hit 11-of-18 three-point attempts to build a 56-31 halftime lead. Sannes and junior guard
Cassidy Thorson had 15 first-half points each.

Starting with a Sannes three to close out the first quarter, which made it 26-16 MSUM, the Dragons went on a decisive 19-4 run to push the lead to 42-20. Freshman guard
Maddie Erickson had six points on a pair of three-pointers while Thorson also had six points to spark MSUM.
MSUM finished the first half strong as freshman
Kourtney Selensky and Thorson buried threes in the final 1:31 to push the lead to 56-31.
The Dragons maintained that advantage throughout the second half, leading by as many as 28 on their way to the convincing victory.

Sannes finished 11-of-16 from the field, including 3-of-4 from three-point range, to reach her 32 points. She added three assists and three blocks.
Thorson had 15 points to record her sixth straight game in double figures. She added five assists. Sophomore guard
Jacky Volkert had 11 points and five assists.
Freshman guard
Maddie Erickson had a career-high eight points in 15 minutes off the bench. Senior guard
Natalie Van Wyhe had six assists.
